I’m a little bit Country, he’s a little bit…

Contemporary. A fun blog that I follow Good Day Sunshine had a post about Sproost.com. I took their quiz and found out I am 44% Rustic Revival, 44% Nantucket Style, and 12% French Eclectic. Here’s what I like:

And Michael is 100% Contemporary. There is no wavering with him. Here is what he likes:

So I like old, and he likes new…How are we going to stay together? Our kids will be so messed up.

We have a Baby Room…

Filed Under (Home) by janae.galindo on 24-07-2009

but no baby! But rest easy knowing that we are working on that. We have some really exciting things planned for the next couple of months to help us get pregnanat. But this is what we have been working on for the past week. I saw the cutest baby room on BHG.com and drew my inspiration from that. Not knowing if we will end up with a boy or girl we had to keep it nuetral. But I’m really happy with the way it turned out.

I would love to now decorate it and put up a bunch of things on the walls and on top of the little ledge all around the room, BUT… I’m going to wait. Wait until I’m pregnant and enjoy the nesting experience. But here is that inspiration room I was telling you about.

That kind of weekend

Filed Under (Home) by janae.galindo on 30-03-2009

Have you ever had a really great, productive, efficient day that then turned into a whirlwind weekend? After a few successive, lazy weekends that didn’t seem to produce anything I had a great few days. Here is my list.

Organize kitchen cabinets
Re-silicone kitchen sink
Make ribbon organizer
Clean garage
Sew on blackout material to drapes
Vacuum
Make cover for Christmas wreath
Take down painters tape in bedroom
Make waxing appointment
Made great progress on my cross stitch
Still need to hang large mirror in entry, but needed M’s help and mop (which I totally hate!)

I am happy with the way my ribbon boxes turned out:

And the wreath cover I sewed from an old bed sheet with sweet spring flowers.
So there’s something “green” in all my activites.

Christmas is done.

Filed Under (Home) by janae.galindo on 13-01-2009

I just wanted to share this because I am very happy with myself….I finally took down my Christmas decorations!!! Christmas was 19 days ago, which doesn’t seem that long ago, but it has really been eating at me that I hadn’t cleaned up my house (or so it felt) yet. Yay me!! (And thank you Michael, of course, for helping me.)

Snow Day in Vegas

Filed Under (Fun Stuff, Home) by janae.galindo on 17-12-2008

We have had a huge storm roll through Las Vegas and left us with SO MUCH SNOW!!! We don’t know what to do about it. (And when I say “we” I mean all Las Vegans; when we turned the news off they were reporting at least 60 confirmed car accidents.) But on the brighter side this is way too much fun. The last time we had snow like this was on Michael’s birthday in 2003. We are wondering what will happen tomorrow. We are at work before most people are even awake, and Clark County School District is going to wait till tomorrow morning to determine if there is no school. But what does that mean for us???? I hope SNOW DAY!!!

UPDATE: Local news reported our area of Henderson had 8-10″ of snow! Also, still had to work today. :(

White Elephant brings new life.

Filed Under (Fun Stuff, Home) by janae.galindo on 30-11-2008

I got this clock from a coworker who was going to throw it away because the hour hand was loose. About an hour later I had a new-ish clock with colors, a working hour hand, and new life. I even used scrap wall paper from a wall paper swatch book. I am planning to give it as a white elephant gift this Holiday season.

What do you have around your house that you can renew and regift without regret?

Summer Project: Finish the Garage

Filed Under (Fun Stuff, Home) by janae.galindo on 10-11-2008

Over the summer we beefed up our garage with shelves on one side (pictures to come later) and a work bench on the other. Michael’s parents helped us with the shelves, and Brandon and his dad (who was visiting for the weekend, bless his heart) helped us with the workbench. Keira helped too by being the mascott. To see the pictures go here.

I am so happy with the way that the garage turned out. I have so much more room to store things and be organized. And as an added bonus, I might acturally use my tools more often…imagine that! :)
